On the Italian site they were calling it Unhearted, which I think was somehow a mistransliteration of 'Unearthed'..........something out of the ground?

I wonder if that was the original title. Or if it now describes it's current status.

Thank you.

Interesting, they've been showing that girl sitting up on her operating room table yelling whatever it is she yells since the beginning of the year.

Oh, someone else is posting on this thread *goes to check*

*comes back* Yes, yes it is, Lez. Stand alone episode! Well, of course it would have to be a stand alone.

*grumbles about those *&^%^&* stand alone episodes, you can plug them in anywhere.....*

Self censoring! Have you seen Jimmy Kimmel do "Today in Unnecessary Censorship"? They bleep and block all kinds of stuff, quite funny. You could do random word censoring, to keep us on our toes...

From Scifi wire:

Quote :
The strangest show on TV just got stranger. Rumors had floated around that there was a missing Fringe
episode that had been filmed in season one but had never aired. Well,
those rumors are true, and you're going to get a chance to see that
episode.

The most aptly titled episode ever, "Unearthed," has been dug up to air in Fox's timeslot battle with NBC (Fringe vs. Heroes)
on Monday, Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. There's no explanation from Fox as to why
the episode was never aired, although their theory is "Is it from an
alternate universe?"

And some interesting theories in the comments section there.

Is Agent Dunham like your girlfriend ?
"Don't wait too long to make your move" !

I spotted the Observer, when Olivia went to the church to see the mom&girl.

Will do full review and clues later smile

Another paraphrase for the motto I knew would pop out of this episode,

"I turn 18 next year, so don't wait too long to make your move."

I gave it a generous 8 because it bugged me at the end that a wife beater like that would be able to still come to consciousness in a 'vacated' body to get another chance to chase down his wife who had him killed for protection.

And, how dare they tease the Shippers with that? I'd be over the moon if I were near Lisa's age. They had hugs! They had Peter smiling at the girl! They had him acting protectively about her because he, too, had been sick a lot as a child. If I were Lisa, I'd try to look him up again, too, because she's doing the math in her head, thinking, 11, 12 years, that's not too much of an age difference! Again, I say, TEASE!

I'm aware I'm probably going to be overly critical of the first show back after the Christmas hiatus, I felt curiously unsatisfied over "Bound" also, but I'm not sure it was because the plot went in an entirely different direction than I wanted, or I just expect too much from them after yearning for a month.

I could definitely use some more sensitive Peter, but move it in Olivia's direction, please!

Spoiler:

The Fringe science? I'm not sure what I think of it. Man gets massive dose of radiation, but also gets unknown experimental drug which cures his extreme radiation poisoning. It would be nice to have some science geek around here who could possibly guess the connect how massive radiation poisoning + experimental drug = man who can jump from body to body and still hang around in the ether inbetween dying folk. Maybe if they'd cast a different kind of character, but he was so unlikeable, I find myself objecting on moral grounds because of the sailor's behavior, not on science fiction grounds.

They kept Olivia neutral in the background, although I may hear "cardboard" again in an opinion today.

I DID like the introduction of religious faith at the first, and occasionally in the episode. I see science and religion coexisting. I am a person of faith, although my faith is not very specific in it's details.

So, it was a stand alone episode, as expected. The formula was 3 Stand Alones to 1 Story Arcing episodes. I'm pretty sure this Thursday will be a Stand Alone too.

The balloon arrangement was red-red-red-green, wasn't it? And yes, I said aloud, "There goes the Observer" when Olivia was talking to the woman also. Didn't see any blue/red lights.

Looking forward to Thursday!

"Unearthed" in 10 points :

Mothers : Olivia's mom was a believer... I hope we will know what happened to her, I don't why I deeply believe she's dead.
I believe, that Olivia may have wondered, if her mom knew about the Cortexiphan trials.

Yum, P/O ! And I could see this girl liked Peter... so when she tells Olivia to "not wait to long to make your move",
The "So, Agent Dunham is like your girlfriend or something ?", I was so waiting for that sentence !

Special : It was somehow, "on the side of" Fringe. It felt weird to see Charlie again, so much that I thought for one second that we were in another universe, and that this girl was communicating with someone on the side we used to know.

Tibetan teachings : She was communicating with someone from the other side, we just misunderstood the meaning of "over side". They meant the after death side. I liked that.
I like how Walter explained that "possessions" could be misdiagnosed cases.

Erk. The hand of the surgeon going in that girl and she wakes up. I imagined for a second what I would feel if I woke up and felt someone else's hand holding my kidney.
Just the thought... ew.

Religion : I remember when I said I wouldn't like Fringe to go all religious... And I liked this episode. You have faith and science, it's like math and art.... right ?
There was a brilliant scientist, who said "when I enter my lab, I leave God in the entrance".

I think I understand why they didn't air it, it was too close to Olivia being brain dead, and before or after the Season 1 finale, I think it would have been confusing, as there was nothing really linking to our big arc with Jones.

Observer : At the CHURCH ? Are Observers religious people ? Or was it just because of the girl ?

Uh ! Walter wanders around and Olivia is the one noticing he's gone... When she said "Hey !" I thought that was for interrupting Peter about his russian girlfriend.
Loved the "Besides your daughter is 17, she's probably sampled far worse by now."

Scott parallel : The John/Lisa link is inevitable, when you hear the mom saying she thought she would never again say "I love you" to her.
And later at the lab, too.

Will post clues later grins

Thank you for the screencaps!

It was RRRG I think, too, it's the quickest shot at first when you see the girl's hospital bed. I wonder if inverting the sequence is another allusion to opposites.
Red is not exactly the opposite of Blue, but we've seen red lights utilized like blue lights, the last time they stood out was in "Momentum Deferred". Maybe the opposite, or opposing nature of what they show is more important than what they're showing? *tucks that away for future consideration*

No P/O in the same frame for this episode, I guess? *sigh*

I'm looking forward to seeing, not the whole episode, but at least the couple of scenes where Peter talks about the Tibeten Book of the Dead, the "coaster" scene.

NOPE. She was much more the open, human Olivia. Smiles, jokes, "I'm just waiting to see if lightning strikes you dead.."

I miss her.

I DID like the introduction of religious faith at the first, and occasionally in the episode. I see science and religion coexisting. I am a person of faith, although my faith is not very specific in it's details.

My guess is that this religion thing is why it was held back, for that exact reason you gave. FOX is in its guts afraid to peeve its more religious, conservative base, and an episode where science and faith are presented not as exclusive, and where religious assumptions are presented as misguided (note to Cathy: the assumptions, not the religion--but that's too smart for FOX to have seen last year I think)----------probably scared the pants off the FOX executives.

On the dvd's they mention how sometimes they have to doctor an episode at the end, make them have"won" over the bad guys, and I would not be surprised if this was held while they tried to figure out how to insert some pro-faith stuff. The only place I could see which might have been treated that way was where Walter quotes Isaiah in Latin. His references to belief always feel ham-handed to me, as though they are pasted in by someone besides the writers. That is something I don't think we will know until after the series ends.

As to the Fringe science, body jumping consciousnesses would not be impacted at all by the good or evil, worthiness or un-, of the jumper. That's a religion/values argument, and it doesn't pertain. I suppose in fact a case could be made, in horror literature, for the strength of the urge of the dying to continue to be the deciding factor. But--having the bad guy "win" by achieving another body... I can see the execs holding the episode because of that.

Fringe science-wise, the only thing I was dissatisfied about was that there was no explanation of why her---surely other people in Boston died at the same time Andrew did? Definitely other people on the planet. So, is proximity an issue?

So we also have some informations about Peter... him being "always sick"...
Certainly a result of crossing over, but.. what kind of illnesses ?

Interesting too that he hasn't otherwise admitted to remembering being sick. And that he seems to think that being sick is what made him feel different.

I hadn't thought of that, but it felt heavy with Walter-Peter loss references. She says she can't lose her again, and he completely understands.

Will post clues later grins

My other thought on why this wasn't aired then: it deals a lot with Peter remembering being sick.......only in Safe he does not remember being sick. So, are those memories of his other life seeping in, which they decided they weren't ready to address?

I loved how he was fearless and just went in to intervene to save Mrs. Rusk (and Lisa), Super Peter! And how he and Olivia were already partners in this episode.. it was a kind of switch off between her and Charlie, and her and Peter. It was good, and sad, to see Charlie again.

I was thinking too about the drugs thing (working on some icon & banner stuff in my head...)--Walter makes & takes them, dispenses them... Peter helps him make them, and is always the one administering them ("so, are you like a doctor or something?"---does he take them? Olivia is always fine with taking whatever Walter administers... are they a metaphor for crossing boundaries, or for perception maybe? Peter still standing back a bit from his own revelation? (Will we see Peter in the tank, after all?)
