Imagine Peter imagining his father kissing another woman than his mother.
When he was still a baby.

Were you hanging onto every word that William Bell/Leonard Nimory said? Couldn't help it, I've been waiting for this scene for 5 months. As have ya'll. *chuckles*

Gold light everywhere during the Bell/Olivia meeting.

"Please, call me William. Or Wil'im. That's what you used to call me as a girl. Wilim"
Big time gold flash. Okay, *sucks air in through teeth*, Peter had a faint yellow glow to him when Rebecca said goodbye.

I think they're starting a new feature with the gold flashes. And the beginning "Fringe" shot, before the theme song, was a yellow-tinted white.
I'm sure that was intentional.

"But not you. I can see that just bylooking at you. In fact, you're just coming into your ability." He's seductive. And a little intimidating, with his reputation.

He might not be able to return to This Universe.

They've made hybrid people, part synthetic material, like mercury.

Whatever cutsey name you think might appeal to my childhood instincts.

She is so cool, she's not backing down. His final benediction, "you may find I'm more of an ally than you think." That's important, somehow.

"You are the one, Olivia." We're Blinded in Yellow Light! Butterfly after she jerks up with "I gotta see Nina Sharp!"

It's a blue white light around Peter when Rebecca stares at him.

Classic abuser-speak. You survived me, so you're not a victim. If I'd had a brick I've felt like thowing it at him.

I'm guessing BR are backpedaling on the abuse line, having realized they created the situation where she was abused for the benefit of others, and want to walk away from that. But just saying she isn't a victim doesn't change it. And just saying it saves a bunch of others doesn't make it ok.

If they don't allow her to rectify the situation somehow (killing Bell? At least ceasing allowing him to manipulate her), it will still feel tainted to me.

The Cortexiphan kids by virtue of their experience in the lab are abused children. A feature of this episode was that Rebecca considered her experience more gratifying than oppressive. A really hard call, that.
I'm sure we'll be discussing, even occasionally debating finer parts of this piccadillo.

I'm sure we will; and one thing in favor of Rebecca's opinion of her circumstance was that she wasn't a little child, but a college student--more able to make informed consent.
And I honestly think the guys at BR didn't really think through just what they were espousing, in this storyline, when they started it. And having Rebecca finding it gratifying is one way to try to erase the negatives. Sometimes remembering the gender of the writers and producers also helps me understand their. . . lack of understanding.

I was gratified to hear Walter apologize for taking advantage of her; his character showing acknowledgement of the 'thou'-ness of another; that's new, and good.

Nice review from MTV on Momentum Deferred:

Quote :
Conclusions: Tonight's episode was "Fringe" at its absolute finest. The mystery-of-the-week and the overarching plot worked in complete harmony with one another, proving that "Fringe" is entirely capable of delivering on both a serialized and episodic basis. The title is absolutely misleading — "Fringe's" momentum is anything but deferred. If the season continues on this path, we're in for an amazing year of television.

(though the insert link button says you can make the link in the highlighted text, both options just give the link all written out. Tips on how to make it work??)

Yes, when you click on the "link" button, two fields appear :
The first, you paste the link, the second (with a little letter), you write the name.

It shouls give you something like this :
The Link

--um, ok, it feels backwards to have to only add the text in the popup box, but I get it now. Thanks!

That's a Really nice quote, Judy, Thanks! Now the show is having to live up to "absolute finest" and that can be a pickle now and then!

I was tickled to see someone else thought the same way I do: that both types of episode work together to make a stronger whole.

Absolute finest is setting the bar nice & high, isn't it?

Wait, stop! I just re-listened to Bell:
"I pulled you out of a moving car."

--he's got a tractor beam, one that stops the time stream and can re-enter it? WTF?
That's the device Walter invented, no?

Oh, I finally figured out why that picture of frozen head guy on the slab, and his name, seemed so familiar! You folks have probably beat me to it. It's another Bowie ref, too. Here's the image they were alluding to(heck, directly calling):
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2840500224/ch0024240
--and I've a snippet from IMDB or somethng to post in the 2x10 thread, also as if you folks weren't probably ahead of me.

Here's an interesting thing I found today, reading graphics sites I followed a link about lightning in art in Japanese prints and... well, it sounded familiar:

______

Quote :
The bell with the three prongs at the top is a symbol of esoteric Buddhism used by the Shingon and Tendai sects. Its origins are found in early Indo-Aryan culture where it was a weapon representative of a thunderbolt. In Japan it is known as a kongo-sho, but elsewhere it is referred to as a vajra. It can have one, two, three or five prongs, the last reserved for use by the highest ranking priests. Or, it could be a double vajra with up to six prongs. I don't know when the bell was added, but it might be interesting to find out.

As a symbolic weapon the vajra is used in the Thunderbolt Realm, one of two forms of Buddhist reality, and has the power to cut through obstacles which prevent enlightenment. As such it can assist the karmic self.
....
The greatest commonality of the five examples shown immediately above is lightning as an element of the supernatural. In the first image it is the thunder god which directs the flashes. In the second it is simply an accompaniment while in the last three the spirits of the dead seem to be able to conjure forth the awesome powers of nature.

http://www.printsofjapan.com/Lightning_page.htm

Lessee, alternate reality...Peter's dead...no idea what he's capable of, check... lots of electrical testing done on him... Olivia needs to keep him by her side....maybe she needs him to assist her karmic self.
