That's weird. Later, when my great aunt will be asleep, I'll watch it again.

Yes, not really useful. And not really interesting easteregg if it's the real message....

It was awfully static-y for that. And you can clearly(ish!) hear the word Newton in the phonecall.

Here's the whole text from the quote on the pen:

The birds they sang
at the break of day
Start again
I heard them say
Don't dwell on what
has passed away
or what is yet to be.
Ah the wars they will
be fought again
The holy dove
She will be caught again
bought and sold
and bought again
the dove is never free.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

We asked for signs
the signs were sent:
the birth betrayed
the marriage spent
Yeah the widowhood
of every government --
signs for all to see.

I can't run no more
with that lawless crowd
while the killers in high places
say their prayers out loud.
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
a thundercloud
and they're going to hear from me.

Ring the bells that still can ring ...

You can add up the parts
but you won't have the sum
You can strike up the march,
there is no drum
Every heart, every heart
to love will come
but like a refugee.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.

(Leonard Cohen)

A reference to our Liberty Bell, I think. It cracked on its first use but still is a huge symbol of liberty to the US, it has a Bible verse about proclaiming liberty on it.

Lots of easter eggs, colors, reflections in this episode!

The first motel room, the pics above the bed I can't make out,

but in the 2nd one, it's Reiden Lake over the bed while he's notching the tips of the bullets

and really clearly when he is being re-kidnapped

What the scene is next to Newton I have no idea beyond it looking like an old city street

At the guns'n'ammo shop, nice reflections and shadows and colors

At the coroner's, windows for Peter, as so common, plus reflections

'8' again, as well as 5 and 10

At Walter's, two globes separated by the latch on the window

And we see that Olivia is going to Seattle, here's the Space Needle

excellent elliot!!

did someone mention that Northwest Passage was the original title for Twin Peaks?
it was a great tribute to Lynch's show and a welcome ripoff of something else that The X-Files

if you add
sherif+woods+mist+pie
that's way too many clues pointing in this general direction Cool

Also, there are a lot of butterflies in the Bishop's house, on the windows.

What hit me on the Olivia cap are the two cones, reminded me of Peter's drawing at the morgue, about fear experience.

I did not know that "Northwest Passage" was the original title for "Twin Peaks", excellent, Elliot!

Nice recitation of the lyrics, too.

So, the dairy guy performed the brain surgery? Temporal lobe stuff and everything? She asks, knowing there will be groans out in the blogosphere. No relation to Newton and what he was up to.................

Could Newton have influenced the guy, in some ways ?

I don't know, that's been bugging me since the episode.

The Dairy Guy just made one statement, like, "I couldn't let them go", and that's our only clue as to what relationship they might have had. *glues piece of hair back into my scalp that I pulled out fretting about this. *

It's bugged me too. It could be sloppy writing, and might be, but it might not be too.

And then I was re-watching The Arrival yesterday, and realized that the Rogue came from Seattle to steal the cylinder, and had been wanted in a double homicide, and some drug related felonies, before that.

Are "they" using human criminals to do things they can't? September said he could not touch the cylinder himself, when he was talking to Walter in the diner.

I thought September couldn't touch it because the other Observers didn't want to interfer.... so he found another way...

I don't know, but I can't wait to have answers about Observers !

And I was thinking, that might be two different things we'd have information about; someone using criminals for fringey purposes (John Mosely in Seattle killing two people.... where did he get that knowledge extracting equipment? As he tortured and killed people, was he getting fringe info, or just escalating as a serial killer and they diverted him to their purpose? Which 'they'? .................was he a Newton helper???)------------and then, info about Observers too.

I don't know, the fact that John Mosley was bald just made me think he was an Observer too....

Well, I think that's gonna be "wait and see" !

He was pretty emotional for an Observer; maybe there are different sorts or groups of Observers, with different ideas on what is right?

I don't think there was an Observer this show *ducks*, but I think they're pretty benign, anyway, their name is their function.

However, I will admit, their policy of NonInterference is pretty broad in its interpretation. Or September and August are a couple of loose cannons!

In the crowd, same crowd as Newton was in.

I like August and September as loose cannons!

Something's been bugging me:
When Krista writes "Peter from Boston" on the CD, there's something screwy with the N in Boston.
Now it's possible that she's got bad handwriting, but this is Fringe so....

I don't have a screencap... if anyone could provide one, I'd be much obliged.

Love to hear your thoughts...

...it's a bit like the symbol for Zeus/Zinc.
http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/17/172.html
Which is a synonym for Jupiter, which signifies...wait for it... bishops.
This symbol is also used for the process 'reverberatio'.

It looks as if the guy who was in charge of the CD didn't usually write hearts instead of "o"s and was about to start an "o" instead of a "n"...

This is what I initially thought, but why would someone put that shot in the episode? Blank CDs are cheap. And I have been known to reburn a CD when I screw up a label, even if it's just going to a friend. Although, admittedly, I am weird.

Probably just a dude who doesn't draw hearts.

But the Fringie in me really wants it to be Zeus/Bishop, that would be cool.
