A part of California is not on the same tectonic plaque as the rest of the USA, if I remember correctly ?

And, i do not know the USA very well, but isn't there a part of Michigan missing ?
And some kind of other state between Texas and Oklahoma (not sure about the spelling of that one) ? Or is Kansas just bigger ?

The San Andreas Fault has been the harbinger of Doom for California for decades, a chunk is supposed to slide into the ocean if a major quake hits the fault, I think.

I'll have to be able to see the map to tell you about the areas bordering Texas. Or rely on Elliot, I'm sure she can illuminate the correct geography.

Ah, but reading the off-topic notes, Elliot has her plate full with home activities.

It has been so much fun talking with everyone on the same page today!

I meant, someone whose native resolution is better than that on this machine. If there's a snippet of the scene with the map that I can drag to the other machine, it has much better res......... I will look for that tomorrow evening or Sunday. This is what I can read from the pic I enhanced.

Poor San Andreas! Oklahoma and Kansas are conjoined--as are the Dakotas--and the UP is missing---probably still part of Canada, maybe the French and Indian wars ended up differently? I copied that list someone else had, and will compare that with the pic--here it is:

  • The state of Washington is called "Southern British Columbia."
  • Nevada is called "Independent Nevada."
  • Texas is divided into two states: North Texas and South Texas.
  • Oklahoma and Kansas are combined into a large state called "Midland."
  • North and South Carolina are combined into a single state called simply "Carolina."
  • Louisiana is called "Louisiana Territory."
  • The area around Washington, D.C., is called "District of Virginia" instead.
  • The upper peninsula of Michigan doesn't exist.
  • The map designates red "quarantine areas" and blue "incident areas," presumably either places that have been cleared of all life or areas of unusual "Pattern"-related activity.
  • The biggest red quarantine areas are in Delaware, eastern New York and southern Maine.

And one more photo request------I'll look tomorrow, but the pic of the PeterMachine with the characters down the sides... anybody got a real clear shot of it? I'm hoping to try my hand at decoding it.

Two little things.

1) when Altsird came in, Colonel Broyles said : "Agent Farnsworth? " and she replies "Broyles – Phillip - Colonel."

2) Lincoln Lee knew Nick.

It looks like an eye, or a .... thing, you know, like a stamp ? I'll have to check in the french/english dictionary.

And the writing looks a lot like oriental writing.

Yes, the writing seems oriental. Or observer's writing.

Hm, I don't think it's observer.... or if it is, it's another kind of Observers who write this.

He knew A Nick. Not necessarily this one. Though this one was marked "2" by someone. (Pinkner or Abrams had told the actor that Nick had done it to let the voices out--though that is said wryly, like they were not leveling with the actor.)

The blobs on the corners of that image--and I have a clearer one now and am working on it--look to me like either ghosts from mounting it (rather unlikely) or seals, as it was an important document..

The writing is once again, alchemical (that in the columns)--and the stuff across the top may be Observery-ish, but doesn't really look like it to me. It does resemble Chinese calligraphy in being red and in columns but the characters/symbols are not Oriental.

In the pics of that death machine in the secret room, two things stand out for me:
1) it has the look of an altar, and an abbatoir
2) one of the most disturbing parts for me is the open gears in the attachment

Miscellaneous notes from Over There:
1) If Jackson wasn't a President, that explains Oklahoma not being separated from Kansas--there would have been no Indian Removal Act.
2) Date on the Bicentennial coin is wrong---so their founding date is 1783, not 1776.
3) The coin floating on water is a surface tension thing, not gravity. This is a rather glaring mistake for these guys, but pales in comparison to going Over There by imagination, which I am just not going to touch except to ask why the imaginary route woud not create instability....
4) There was an FBI agent ready to shoot James Heath when he threatened Walter, and he only stood down when Broyles waved him off. So he'd been briefed on that, and was detailed to protect Walter.
5) If Olivia is there to save the universes and Peter, and there was no Peter or Astrid to look after Walter, why in heaven would she abandon Walter to being shot to go stalk herself? I know they wanted the plot point of her seeing what her alter had that she didn't (a life), but it really doesn't track with Olivia (protector) or her training. Marines do not leave people behind, they just don't, it's a rather holy thing with them.
6) When Peter is alone examining those blueprints, he looks like he thinks something is wrong with them.
7) there were WAY more incident dots on that map than Walter could possibly have been responsible for.. and unless Bell has done nothing except zap himself back and forth for the entire time, he's not responsible for all of them either. Which leaves Walternate, whom I suspect of experimenting with alter-travel and not purely for experimental purposes.

By Oriental I meant Middle Eastern, Proche Orient, Oural area.

One sure thing is that the writing is not Hebrew.
Though the characters looks from Proche-Orient, Middle Eastern.
Could be alter turkish.

Some of the red characters look like Korean.

I have some cool ideas about Peter!

Peter and the Observers are the only ones that can cross over with no side-effects. We've seen the genetic code clue so maybe this is an evolutionary step that Peter has. Peter is on the way to becoming an Observer - a trans-dimensional being and the future of mankind, with the duty to save both universes.

It would also explain:
- why Peter could use August's gun
- why Peter, like the observers, is able to give life to what has to do with energy
- why Peter, like the observers, is able to avoid the bullets

I like the idea of Peter as the chosen one from the Observers. The one who, unlike the Observers, will have the assignment to intervene to maintain stable the universes. I'd say "the soldier of the observers" smile

Maybe it's unimportant, but the "Middle Eastern" thing made me think the place where Olivia met Peter the first time. Iraq.

Yes, indeed.

On the market, I saw a public writer (the guy who writes letters for you if you don't know how to write or just never wrote a motivation letter before), and this woman also speaks and writes arabic. I watched some letters and she told me there were two kind of arabic : one who was more writing, computer, square, and one who was more graphic, with curves.

I don't think the writing is arabic, -or maybe alter arabic- but yes, you're right. They met in Middle Eastern. Hmmmmm...

Lots of those characters are blends of old, old signs--tarot signs came from them too--they predate modern languages.

Which reminds me... the document clearly is meant to be, or at least look, much older than the span of Peter's life.
Was it faked up to look like a prophecy?
Was it brought from somewhere else?
As Walternate had faked up things in his version of ZFT (and didn't he look like a late night commercial for a self help book, holding it up?), did he fake that too?
Is it a page from a prophecy in the Observers' universe?

and

Why did Peter's otherMother pause and not call Walternate Peter's father?

and

Peter the skeptic is not going to jump immediately on board with Walternate's "you can fix this universe" promise. And when he walks into BadWalter's office, he looks more confrontational than acquiescent. Plus, surely he will realize Walternate came to get him now that the machine is ready; and Theirlivia will realize Walternate only told them about the other universe when Walter and Olivia had come to rescue Peter.

I was about to say it when I read your first and third questions.
I think there's a reason for that page to be so old.
The one the Observer leaves for Olivia is clearly not as old as this one.

Do you think a Rogue could have written the old one, to, indeed, make it looks like a prophecy, and that would be the reason September helped them.

They shouldn't interfer, but they do interfer a lot.....

What if the Observers we see are protectors of our universe? The way September is rather a protector of Walter and Peter? And August was protector of that girl?

and then...

the Rogue, a protector of Over There?

Ok, now i will exploit my fantasy.

Peter is destined to become the "chosen one" from the Observers, and accordin to the original prophecy he will be the protector of the two universes. What if the Rogue we saw in "the arrival", comes to know this and become envious. So he wants kill Peter and modifies the prophecy, leading to believe Walternate that sacrifing his son with his "powers" all the problems in the alter universe will solve.

Hahahahah tragic!

I don't quite understand what you mean by that ? scratch
