There's an old theory used here during sessions with psychologists. It's based on the same concept as Sam's little game, but not with business cards. Usually with books that are in the room, or in a library, or paintings, you take -only- the first letter of every book/paintings you chose, and you have a phrase. Subconsciously, you chose the book with first letters that meant something to you, and you end up with what you want to read. It's a bit like when you see only what you want to see. Here, you try to cope with something by creating something familiar. |

| Even the sturdily science-minded me can see how one could find one's own answers in that fashion. Rather like waking up and translating one's dreams. My only problem with all that was Olivia's being operated by yet another man. Even critics are beginning to notice: "What is it with Fringe and men and women's memory banks?"
But with male writers, I don't expect that theme to ever really change in the show. A pity, but I don't think it can be helped. You have to be aware of a problem to be able to change it, and the male defaults are so ingrained... *sighs*. ________________________________ "A strong morality tale in between "Aahhhhhh, HELP!" moments." |

| Does anyone know what kind of books Vince Fly writes? There's a hardcover one by him on Walter & Peter's coffee table at the end of the episode. ________________________________ "A strong morality tale in between "Aahhhhhh, HELP!" moments." |

Oh yeah, I think the whole "Sam" thing is pretty unabashedly Yoda-like. But I think she should be treating him with a little more deference, the business card trick was pretty cool! And the color red, I wish I'd clicked onto that. I'm afraid BookWorm is going to have to come up with all the brainy revelations while we watch new episodes. Thursdays are just great to have the show, but because it's also the end of my work week I'm a little fatigued. It doesn't lessen my enjoyment of the show (or playing with ya'll), but I wish I'd realized those folks were wearing red. The taxi driver is flat out blinding with his red shirt on, LOL! |

| Ahh.. Auntie Google says Vince Flynn is the NY Times bestselling author of counterterrorism novels featuring Mitch Rapp--and here's a blurb from Vince's site: - Quote :
- Vince Flynn’s thrillers, featuring counterterrorism operative Mitch
Rapp, dominate the imagination of readers everywhere. In them, Flynn captures the secretive world of the fearless men and women who, bound by duty, risk their lives in a covert war they must hide from even their own political leaders.
eta... here's a cartoon showing someone costumed as Mitch.... look a bit like anyone we know and love? ________________________________ "A strong morality tale in between "Aahhhhhh, HELP!" moments." |

| "Flynn" seems to be the more logical choice, but I don't see anything especially unusual about his fiction, his covers look like Tom Clancy artwork. But, maybe that's the point, that's he's a good author.
Anyone wanna read a Flynn book?
I called in sick the day the Challenger disintigrated, and it was in January, not June. Husband came to wake me up after I'd called in, I said, "Is something wrong?" And all he said was something like, "You need to come see something." That was a terrible thing to watch. |

Wow. That sounds very familiar to the "Fringe" plot, Must be Vince Flynn. Nice catch! |

| Me neither, and I would not want to read a whole series on an anti-terrorism investigator theme, too emtionally wringing-----but I think it is a nice nod, a way for BR to open the door and put on coffee for that audience. ________________________________ "A strong morality tale in between "Aahhhhhh, HELP!" moments." |

| Maybe it's just a nod to what his plotlines have in common with "Fringe" characters, another easter egg while we wait for the show to come back in November. Ugh, when in November do we come back? P.S. He's written 10 books, so he's probably a fair read.
