| Hey, You! Is that a twinkie? I Know this isn't a Bones thread, but David Boreanz got a bonus out of having the swine flu. I don't prize it, but the old adage of losing extra weight is true. He's looking younger. *ducking about any weight issues* I myself am a bit overweight, so, I'm not advocating it. But, Angel looks better at his lower end of the healthy scale. Maybe he'll be chuga-lugging water to maintain it! Forty minutes and counting! "Military intelligence. That's an oxymoron." "Important blogger. Now that's an oxymoron." | |

| No, I agree. I like Angel skinnier.... same with Peter. (Since this is a virtual twinkie, have two!) | |

| Aw, thanks!
I wish the "Bones" cafe had been the actual cafe set for "Roswell", I LOVED that angsty sci fi show! And the younger brother in "Roswell" did wind up being Booth's younger brother on "Bones".
Still not talking about Bones while waiting for Fringe. *hangs head* 30 minutes!

| I think the actor is a good actor, but I never understood why he was cast as Booth's brother, they bear no resemblance to each other. Casting Ralph Waite as his grandpa made perfect sense, on the other hand. | |

| And Ralph Waite is also Mark Harmon's father on the #1 tv show, "NCIS", he's having a very good year. How funny! The preview doing the "Deliverance" banjo vocalizations, "I'm glad you have the opinion of me that you do." Man, I can't wait for next week's show. And not because that's usually said after watching every preview! Peter fans will be So Much Fun! I'll think until tomorrow about a rating. It's nice to have new shows back! | |

| I'll sleep on it too, for a rating. It was tense, and even when I knew what the end would be, I didn't quite know how....that was good. And even though I applied the rule of 'I know the stars will be ok", still it was riveting in a thriller way. Now we know what Peter means when he keeps referrring to Olivia with her gun! From the spoiler at the end...which was the most shattering thing about tonight's show... - Spoiler:
So that is what Josh meant about Olivia betraying Peter.

| 1. Coward lion AHHA ! 2. P/O.... When she talked to him about the first time being rough.... I got the feeling that it wasn't the first time for Peter. I don't think he's shot someone, but he maay have people's death on his conscience. The gun thing.... *wink wink* 3. P/W.... The end..... the revelation is getting closer. And it's going to be hard for everyone. 4. The kid/Rose/Peter parallel 5. Storyline : very X-files. All this "In fact it's a village conspiration things and you're surrounded" stuff I like. 6. "OPERATION" again ! Loved the shot where you see the kid, passes behind Astrid and then see the "real" kid's face. I love these kind of shots, even if you're used to it and know that it's going to happen. 7. I understand while they changed the name to "Johari Window", but it doesn't fit exactly with it. Johari window is not exaclty about perception, it's about knowledge and unconscious knowledge... etc. But it works. 8. Astrid out of the LAAAAAAAAB ! 9. Elephant man... I love this movie. And this story. 10. Felt weird, and I will rate it later, after a re-watch and some screencaps made. I would have wanted a different ending... and in the same time, liked it. I can't make screencaps right now so i'll post all the clues i've noticed later | |

| Since we know that disruption and disaster is looming for Peter/Walter, the 'Peter loves his Father' scenes are by now getting a bit gluey-sweet. I know they want to make it clear how much they have to lose, but by now it's like being smacked with a fish. The Iron Claw Award is very much within BR's reach--sounds like they will win it next week. | |

I have 5 pages written in felt tip pen and regular pen. MY title for the episode, Field Tripping in EdinaIt may mean something or nothing at all, but the 'star meter' (I know, embarrassing name) was up on the show "40%" on IMDB, the Internet Movie Database, the internet resource for all screen actors and shows, as of Friday. So it looks like some folks liked the show. Jacob Blair as Officer Bukarsky was one of the most compelling characters to die in the series. I cared a lot about a guy I saw, what, two minutes? Hats off to the actor/direction! Peter can't promise he'll never let Walter get kidnapped again, c'mon. I just realized Broyles' office is gone. They're utilizing him totally out in the field. Saves on sets, humanizes Lance Reddick, so money gets saved and Broyles looks softer. Nice! Beautiful Pacific Northwest fog and mist I hope there will be a screencap of the Peter/Olivia profile against that moonlit wild background. I totally agree with Lez. I was a little "Huh?" about this being Peter's first human kill. He didn't disagree, but, he can disable and hand-to-hand so well. Fangirl here maybe thinks everytime Peter kills it gets to him. Okay, I don't want my rambling to erase because the format wants my username and password, so I'll 'send' and continue

| Back to the beautiful dark, foggy, cloudy Pacific Northwest. How "X-Files" and "Twin Peaks" can you get. Loved it! That Buzz. The Fringe Science. It was a huge leap between making something invisible, which apparantly the military can already do as of a year ago, and making something the same illusion among viewers. I'll choose to think of it as more poetic than scientific, so in that sense it was a nice show. "Ever get the feeling that doing this job makes you less and less normal?" "*laugh* Absolutely!" Peter got to show some mettle, as all the Peter fans and most of the rest of us knows he has with the gunman who ran them off the road. I wasn't looking forward to Peter barechested, but him in a tank top next week, my picture of him keeps wandering back to the previews. I liked the local FBI guy. And I love the Edina sherriff. He's a first rate character actor, Michael O'Neill. The butterfly was too cool, indicative of the eerie quality "Fringe" celebrates, and another showcase for Walter and Astrid. They went on a field trip too. You could see it coming, but who didn't LOL when Walter said, "Peter. He wants us to head into town to tyry to find the source of the electromagnetic field"? It was a bit of a stretch that the pulse both caused the disfigurement and masked it, but heck, a solid 8 for the fun fog-filled field trip. Here's to next week and Peter in a tank top! The American phrase is usually called a Wife Beater, but that's a little off-putting. Nice (even more direct) nod to "X-Files" and "Twin Peaks", Thanks, Jeff Pinkner!

Field Tripping in Edina

Peter can't promise he'll never let Walter get kidnapped again, c'mon. (Called a Rash Promise in mythological lore. See 'Orfeo'.)
(Did you recognize that highway from old X-files episodes? I did. Love it.)
I totally agree with Lez. I was a little "Huh?" about this being Peter's first human kill. He didn't disagree, but, he can disable and hand-to-hand so well. Fangirl here maybe thinks everytime Peter kills it gets to him.
I waited to say this to see what you would say, you guys: did you notice how he stifled a comment when she said, the 2nd time, how it gets to you the first time you kill someone? He has killed before... or at least caused death (Iraq?)--but in this context, I think perhaps actively killed. At least, like Angel, he regrets it.
Okay, I don't want my rambling to erase because the format wants my username and password, so I'll 'send' and continue It's better today on remembering us, I think.
(I do the copy and paste thing all the time, forumotion finds my posts tasty and refreshing all the time.)
I was actually looking forward to him barechested, I admit it. Not now, though. The look on Olivia's face in the end of the promo...awful. The t-shirt name (not US, certainly... Aussie? At least, I've never heard a native speaker use that.) seems apt now.
The sherrif was good wasn't he? And the hum didn't cause the disfigurement, the original experiment did.... the hum was a modified version. But still, a distinction without a difference, I agree. Mostly metaphorical. And, ugh, having the butterfly morph to ugly and back to beautiful but with hidden ugliness... seems a paralell for Walter, doesn't it?
They packed a lot of metaphor and history into this episode, it was riveting even if it telegraphed every punch.

| A question for you, Lez: as The Wizard of Oz is a huge cultural influence in the US, nobody has to be told where The Cowardly Lion reference comes from.. we were inundated with the book and the movie from childhood. --------But that's not the same for you, right? Or is it that popular in France, too? | |

| It was popular when it aired the first time. People knows about it, have heard about it, seen parodies, even if they've never seen the movie itself.
But that's not an institution, and I rarely heard children who had seen/talked about/study this movie at school.

| It was on tv every spring for years and years... as Judy Garland was a huge film and music star here, all her stuff became embedded in our popular culture. And the fact of that movie doing black and white, and then throwing color in there...... made it a cultural icon in its own right. | |
