| OK! It sounded familiar deep down, and I think I've traced out why: there is a Bradbury story where people use androids to replace people (a horrific husband and wife story, where if I remember right, the android kills the man and takes his place with the wife? Been a looong time since I read it). - Quote :
- From Publishers Weekly
This slim collection of Bradbury's classic short works on the subjectof substitute people contains little new material: Wind-Up World is avignette of two men complaining about the increasing mechanization oftheir world, while the screenplay outline Murder by Facsimilefaithfully reformats the 1950 story Punishment Without Crime, in whicha man kills a replica of his unfaithful wife. Cherry picking the marionette-themedpieces from Bradbury's extensive oeuvre does create a nicely unifiedtone, however. Only in the famous I Sing the Body Electric is theelectronic substitution for humanity truly satisfactory. In contrast,Marionettes Inc. and Changeling are traditional tales of replacementgone wrong, with the real horror coming from human love in all itsstifling insufficiency. The end result is most appealing to Bradbury completists and those who want a good introduction to his work. (Apr.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. Product Description
In Marionettes, Inc., Ray Bradburyoffers his devoted readers something both special and unexpected: aunified view of one small corner of a varied fictional universe. Infive stories (one of them original to this collection, plus a rare, previously unpublished screen treatment), Bradbury explores the concept of Robotics and examines its impact on the day-to-day lives of ordinary people.
Severalof these tales, including Changeling and Punishment Without Crime, areset in a world in which the eponymous company, Marionettes, Inc., hassuccessfully created incredibly detailed replicas of existing men andwomen. When these surrogate people take their place in the real, oftenmessy realm of human relationships, the results are sometimes tragic, sometimes ironic, and always surprising.

| It was creepy, the human puppet.... being controlled by a mecanism behind his back.... BERK. I remember the title, now "Dead Silence". Here's a a picture (there's absolutely nothing scary nor disgusting on the pic). The man on the pic - Spoiler:
seems to be alive, all movie long, but in fact he's human puppet controlled by the woman standing next to him.
I spoiler tagged it for people who want to see the movie.

| Did you guess that something like that was up, or not know until the end? For me, that kind of twist is only suspenseful if it is truly hidden up until the last moment.
Like, for example, 'Presumed Innocent'. You know something awful is going on, and you know he isn't the killer, but...........argf. Wow.

| Or, "I thought you were a genius?"--she can quote herself from the pilot.
What location from the pilot are they referring to in the teaser, do you have a guess?

| It's not in this episode, that's in "Entrada"... I think it could be the tank/in the lab, as it is very important in the Pilot.
She would go from tank to tank. HAHA.
It reminds me of this episode of the Simpsons, in which Homer has a time travelling toaster and he goes from past to future and everytime it's different. I'm imagining Olivia in a third universe, where it would rain donuts instead of water.

| Can someone post the link to those official photos for 309 on the fox site, so I can read all the captions? (Or wherever you found them with the captions, Lez)---I have tried for 15 minutes to get the Fox site to take me to promotional photos, and it is just the most stupidly arranged, slothsome site I can imagine. I gave up. But if there is a link to them, I could set the page and go make tea and come back and look at them, if I didn't have to hunt for them. | |
