Some of the text at the top of the page disappears into inky darkness....

I found a way to add the first of each topic always visible, which means, you can reply to a topic while always seeing the very first post of it.

I think it is useful for threads like the Promo pics/Trailers, or OSWEND, or other threads containing a list in the first post

I added smilies.

And an automatic picture resize-ment thing.

Would it be possible to customize one's view of the home page so that
the links for new posts take one to the first unread, instead of the
newest? Or add that?
As I am always having to ketch up the way it is now, and the cool sidebar thing has newest posts...

I still have to find that "view first post unread" option !

When you are in the topic, at the top of it, on the right, just above the first post, you have a "Actions !" option.
In here, you have "New posts since last visit"

That isn't quite it, I don't think, unless I am doing it wrong. When I do that, I still only get a link the the latest post, and then have to back track to read what came between the last time I read the thread, and now. If there are two pages of posts in between, I have to page back to see where I left off.

What I wish I could do is go to the home page, and find the list of the topics, with a button for the topic (goes to the first post, beginning of threads), a button for the first one I have not read yet, and one for the latest. As it is now, it's easy for those who don't care to ketch up, but I prefer to read everything in order, and I can't figure out how to do that here yet.

I'll look for it.

So, normally, it should be this :
On the Homepage, you click on "View posts since last visit", you have a list of the topics that contains new posts.
Just at the left of the name of the topic, you have a little black arrow.
On mouse over, you have "View Newest post", if you click, what does it do ?

I couldn't test it, there weren't new posts.

How very odd not to be able to be understood!

Currently the only options in reading are

1) read backwards (vew last post)--------this action is available in several places.
2) start over from the beginning (click on link to thread, and start at first post)

---I'd like to do as I do when I read a book, that is, start where I left off. There seems to be no way to do that here now.

On that page, you have different options:
go to first unread, here on the left, and latest post, on the right.


the one that I use all the time is "go to first unread", as I would like to read in the order the conversation progressed. That way I don't have to page back around to understand what is going on.



Here, I am having to flip back a page or several all the time; there's no way to pick up where I left off.

I know, but that's all I could find !

If it's not available, it's not available, of course.

Is there a wish list of features that forumotion has, for things like that? As we get more posters, and more posts, that will become a useful feature, I think.

ETA: And now I see, after asking for more posts to be put on one page, that it is a really bad idea for dialup.

It's making the art threads unreadable for me---they take positively forever to load, and this morning I just gave up.

What's really strange now, too, is that when I first open a page, there's a brief flash with all the images, and then they all go away, and the page flips up and down, the text loading, but it waits for all of them to be downloaded to show any of them.
This seems worse after the new feature of pegging the first post at the top of the thread. (Can you make the first post sticky ONLY in certain threads, like the OSWEND, and not in all others?)

Lot of members asked, but this has still not been added.

There's no way, just a "yes/no" option.

There's a little maintenance "problem", pictures may take foverer to load for a couple of hours.
