| Snakehead in 9 points. 1. EW. (the worm, the guy who cut his throat.... EW.) 2. Walter & independancy....... when he saw Astrid at the end..... aw. I think he really felt responsible or what happened to her. I liked how he tried. He can be independant, he just needs to keep his tongue in his mouth sometimes ! After all, that was just the thing he said in the Chinese herbalist shop that caused what happened to Astrid. He did get in China Town on his own, taking the bus and all. 3. Mh. P/O. The little joke about "did you eat", the "are you okay ?" from Olivia (Finally !). "Get to know me a bit." We all waiting to do that, Peter. 4. Peter speaking Cantonese. I would have guessed that, but that was great ! Going to that Chinese herbalist alone. I'm glad he didn't swallow that damn worm ! When he took off his vest, I was like, "Yay, Olivia, leave the men alone". 5. The "parasitic" worms...... reminded me of the goa'uld in Stargate. 6. The bird at the end..... given by Olivia. <3 Reminds of mine. 7. Walter's implant.............. oh, too obvious. This is clearly for - Spoiler:
next episode, when Walter gets kidnapped.
8. Certain number of clues and eastereggs, that I will post later. 9. Cool quotes : "Walter, you're not somking this thing." *

| Hm, not so much, 50/50.
50 bad for all the badies (a bit stereotypical for my taste), and the plot it self, too close to the slug, except for the fact that it was going to help a boy.
50 good for Peter action, Walter action, and Olivia's "Are you okay ?!"

50 good for Peter action, Walter action, and Olivia's "Are you okay ?!" I agree. Some sides of the plot were clumsy. But the Peter and P/O stuff managed to limit the "damage". And as always, Walter was of course great !

| I think it's a good episode, but not fantastic. It's another stand-alone indeed, and I'm just a little bit disappointed about the story with the worms. It looks like "Ice" (X-Files) and we have always this theme about the human incubators. Nothing new... But I loved the story with Walter and Astrid. I loved the "are you okay" too She's concerned this time ! By the way, did you notice the regard-caméra of Olivia (how do you say that in english ?) she looks at the camera when she enters in Matt's house Well, pleasant episode anyway. | |

| How Rorschach-like this is! The story was to me so much more plausible than The Road Less Taken, the villains more interesting than Harris, the motivations more believable than David Robert Jones'.... and I loved that the sfx were so well done that you forget they are sfx and that Astrid isn't really holding a live creature, nor one swimming in a tank. Amazing stuff.
Plus, the monster was --- not the worms, but the monster who is creating the creatures. That monster is who FD are actually hunting, the creatures are the manifestation, the symptom. Once again, Fringey things are happening not only in Boston (though these washed up there!).
My one cavil---the worms Walter buys at the store are more like large meal worms, or other larvae of free living insects, not of hookworms (a pan of them would look more like a pan of eels, wet and more saggy, not so dry and roundy and well segmented)---even for standard stomach hookworms, which do indeed exist. But they need that wet environment, and a gut to hook into, so they wouldn't photograph well on a sound stage, and film of a gut full of them would actually have been rather disgusting.

| It's weird that we didn't have any sneak peeks, apart from the scenemaker one, no ? I forgot a point in my review post : 10. PETER the OBSERVER ! HA-HA ! "Did you notice the hand sanitizers ?", "No." He notices everything. *heavy sigh* eta : Precision on the badies : the asian sidekicks I hated, not the Herbalist, who I liked. | |

| Yes, the Herbalist, he was great. Bad-great, I guess. I didn't pay that much attention to the flunkies--except to note how hard they had to work to force that thing into Peter's mouth... and that there was only one flunky left at the end, right?? Not the original set of two? But then, I don't remember much about DRJ's minions, and I just saw them again this week on the dvds.
--speaking of easter eggs, was there one the last time, for this? Because I do not remember...
***the real reason I logged back on is in the off-topic thread** Back to work, again!

| Yes, the OZ thing I saw right away... the flowers look familiar but I'd need to see the whole thing to be sure... because they also look possibly florist's wired up paper flowers... I don't think that's milk, I think it's a coffee with a black lid...milk here isn't usually served in those containers to-go.
Yes, that's a weird place for that round mirror in the lab, isn't it? and lots of reflections now, and ryb.... that great ryb bowl, for example, and the reflections of Peter while he's snooping... and my fave this episode, the reflection of his hands & arms in the window of the interrogation booth with the Triad guy's arms on the table.
Nice catch on the phone... wonder if the "Touch of Magic Surgery" means anything for us?

I caught it but I didn't that would be count as reflection, since there were only his arms ! And yes, this is not milk, I checked again.

| They showed it three times, maybe they were being artistic... so much of the cinematography in Fringe is so excellent, that is a possibility I guess. The lighting in this episode was first-rate... the palest palest cameo pink lighting on Olivia, that cool blue in the scene with the ryb glass bowl, the reflection of the location title in the rainy (Vancouver!) street...
And Peter'd fallen asleep with a bottle of booze at the end, after a day like that, who wouldn't want to wash out the taste of a parasitic worm with some ethanol?
