- "Fringe” executive producer J.H. Wyman, who was born in Montreal, says the show is going to change in tone next season, much like it did earlier this year.
“The intention right away was to get inside the characters, so now you're going to watch the characters self-actualize. It's not so much ‘What's happening?’ It's more like, ‘Well, how does this affect me, and how am I getting into many characters' lives, and how are they a part of it? What's their position in it?’ So it was told much more from the interior, the second season. If you notice, it's like it was more objective, and now it's more subjective to what the people are going through,” says Wyman.
“That's going to continue in three because… the end of the season will push us in a direction where many answers will be given. You will understand now who plays what, and what part. And then we'll go into an even more compelling mystery, I believe. So that's the difference really. It was told from an objective point of view the first season to get people in. You didn't really get to sit and see Olivia deal with what is happening or to see Peter and be inside their heads as they were going in, where this year we've had so much more -- I think ‘gasoline’ is the best word because it gives you -- it gives you so many stories to tell when you're really dealing with honest and sincere human emotion. So if you're intrigued by the characters and you're watching them and you're seeing them in a way where, like, ‘Wow, we're really starting to know them.’ And the relationship between Walter and Peter in specific was just a dream to sort of get into, and I think it really paid dividends. And there's more of that to come. And as you get the viewers and as you're getting the confidence from the network and the studio and being picked up and things like that, you feel good because you realize that there's so much more territory to get into.” link | |
