Those feel like writers' crutches, don't they? I am tired of those lines, too.

I don't think it is an alter episode as in going to an alter place, or having Peter's alter here, but alter in that it touches on the fact of the alter place existing (when Peter says these things.)

I'm just asking me if there is some connection with the other russian experiment. In both of them you have conscieness who "survive" tho radiation experiment.

That is a very good question. Do you suppose they re-used it in Earthling when they weren't sure Resurrection/unearthed would air, or is it a theme they will re-visit?

It is just the point ... do they use it as a new "storyyline" , somehow like ZFT last year, or do the writers just want not lost a good idea ?

I remember we were asking us if there was some russian Fringe division after Earthlink .... maybe they will re-used that theme..maybe ZFT may have done some terrorism in connection with some russian ex scientist ?( occasion of more black russian by the way .. and Peter seems to have some russian speaking bases. )

And the name of the 2 ep : unearthed / earthling seems to be quite linked too (but maybe it is my poor little mind who is spinning out)

I think these are good questions! And I wonder why they changed the name from Resurrection to Unearthed? Because they unearthed it to show it?

I'd love to have an episode where Peter has to translate from Russian for Olivia, and/or Broyles... nice to see his character contributing more than names from his address book!

Plus more, I am sure! I want them to elaborate more on his past. What was he doing in China? What other kinds of things does he know?

I didn't know what coaster meant, except in "rollercoaster", so i didn't get that joke when I watched the episode the first time !

Oh, yes, coaster, that might have been a hard one to pick up. I just take for granted that you know all the little English idioms, Lez, you're excellent at them!

Putting thoughts from The Tibetan Book of the Dead on a coaster, it was a funny image. I think about rotating a glass, reading the circle.....

Mentions like the Tibetan Book of the Dead make me think a lot of my older farmers market friends would really get Walter...all that counter-culture stuff. But of course he was working for the government in the 70's, advancing the Viet Nam war, the cold war, etc. Odd combination of attributes.

One thing I really really liked about this episode was Walter's combination of ego and anger flashes (see, I did think they made him too puppy-like this season!) and uncertainty... he said he could help her, then admitted he wasn't sure it would work.

Loved seeing Season 1 Peter, hated seeing Season 1 Walter. So happy they've changed his character this season. I felt this was the most X-Files like episode we've seen yet. The whole thing had the vibe of those old Scully-religious-reflection episodes, complete with mournful soundtrack.

Yeah, I thought that was the most interesting part of the episode. Pre-crossover Peter 2.0 wasn't sick, but post-crossover Peter 2.0 was. Nice tie-in to whatever's in Peter's medical records Walter both wants to keep secret, and constant check Peter over for.

Still, not exactly Peter's interest.

From personal experience, people with that kind of IQ often have more than one area of interest. The fidelity to that in his depiction is one of the things that drew me to the show, and Peter's character.

(Where was that quote from 2008 on the writing of his character? Something along the lines of they wanted to make him a blend of Good Will Hunting ahd Jason Bourne.)

And publishing papers that doesn't mean he's interested in it.
Some people do that for money.

Honestly, it's not that strange to have lots of interests. That is one of the things that makes his character ring true for me. Genius does not mean idiot savant, or purely labrat in one field.
