| Hi Guys! Well, I voted for the next episode a week early, I just woke up, noticed Lez's signature (ewwww!), but it did keep with the gross out factor of Peter Weller's 'suit'. I gave it a "9". - Spoiler:
It WAS nice, at least with the previews for "The Man From The Other Side" , that they show a somewhat calm Peter telling Walter from a bed that he knows he's from the other universe. I don't know necessarily if I'm watching just next week's previews, or previews from parts of shows leading to the end of the season. Guess I'll see!
Shout out from an old science fiction fan to Peter Weller, he was a rock star when he appeared in "Buckaroo Bonzai" in 1984. That 'bodysuit', EEEWWWW! That's about the grossest thing this year I've seen, especially since he was still alive, sewing away at himself like a bodysuit. The pivotal moment, uh oh, maybe two pivotal moments, were when Walter explained to Alistar Peck that he now believed in God, and that God had been punishing him for 20 years. He was looking for a sign that God had forgiven him, like a white tulip. Does anyone know where the White tulip reference is from? It's a very pretty reference. And the other pivotal moment, is that there seems to be an overlay of destiny on Free Will here. Alistair achieved his goals, he got to his love in time, only to be crushed by a truck. That didn't seem to be the time travel energy drain that killed the folks when he time traveled, that just seemed to say she was going to die then one way or another. I don't know. In one way destiny could anesthesize all the bad choices you've made, say they would have happened anyway. I might have wished I'd chosen better at some crossroads in my life, but you never know at the time that it IS a crossroads. On the other hand, it's not healthy to wander around with a ton of regret. At some point you have to do more than live with your choices, you need to foster happiness about those choices, or it will hurt your health. Beat. "And now concludes Cathy's sermonette on how to achieve happiness in Life."

| I liked it, but it moved much more slowly than I had thought it would. Part of that was setting up the 'Groundhog Day' thing, but I do like that they erased most of what happened in the final scenes; that was new. Perhaps if we hadn't had the 8-week layoff there in between this would not seem so agonizingly slow, but I am so done with waiting to see, I want the story to move on. It was a very emotional, moving story, but now I've moved from feeling sorry for Walter to feeling sorry for Peter, who is being increasingly hurt by Walter's choices. I was relieved after they trotted out the God thing that they did not get all sticky-Valentine about it. And that science wasn't made to take a back seat to religion in the end; a shout out to intellect and reason! Astounding in a world where usually the religious community treats non-religious as misguided and amoral. You can have faith in lots of things without having to have sky pixies determine the course of your life. Their interchange didn't cheapen either way of looking at things. The Faraday cage-body mod was, I grant, necessary for the Fringe Horror Factor, and while well done filmically, it was poorly done on the approaching reality level. Hello, where's the pus and bleeding and foreign body rejection and massive infection?...... dude wouldn't have lasted to get to his first jump. If they had shown what flesh would actually look like, suppurating and granulated, after those mods-----now that would have been gross. Besides the fact that there are already metal fabrics, computerized fabrics even, out there today. He could have made a body stocking from that stuff. Wouldn't have appealed to the Robocop fans tho'. One sore point for me is that Peter is more than capable of understanding the maths there, his bio says 'intuitive mathematician', he's geeked out all along with Walter equally--eg., 'Jacksonville'. Maybe the decision to have him not get that stuff was in the department of dividing up lines & on-screen time, to drive home the point of Walter being able to talk as an equal to Peck, but it felt like the writers hadn't read much of Peter's back story. ---------------------------- Tulips in Floral language represent love; white ones extreme love, and also forgiveness. ------------ - Quote :

That didn't seem to be the time travel energy drain that killed the folks when he time traveled, that just seemed to say she was going to die then one way or another. He chose to go and die with her in the car, Cathy, that was the point; Walter swayed him by his discussion into changing what he was going to do, and Peck changed Walter by sending him the tulip. It was a beautiful interchange, the gifts of understanding and compassion they gave each other. And the scene with the red Montgolfier was to show the empty field he jumped to (with Walter's help), that way nobody died in his final jump. - Quote :
I don't know. In one way destiny could anesthesize all the bad choices you've made, say they would have happened anyway.
Yet another reason destiny is bunk. You've hit on a very good one. Free will is a huge theme here, and I am so, so glad they are willing to break free of the Destiny silliness that weighs down shows like LOST. - Quote :

those choices, or it will hurt your health. Beat. "And now concludes Cathy's sermonette on how to achieve happiness in Life." That was evident last night too-- Walter is hurting Peter by refusing to tell him the truth, getting more and more unfair. As well as wrecking his chances to be happy now by having conversations in his head about what he assumes Peter's reactions will be, and then acting on the things he thinks Peter will do. It robs Peter of the ability to think for himself. But then narcicissm is generally like that, and fear really can provoke that. Oh--and the film guy who twittered that he'd seen Pacey beating up Robocop... do you suppose that's a deleted scene we'll see on the dvd's, or was it PT Barnum stuff?

| Here we go, 1. SO NICE to see Peter Weller again. Even if his arms were badly "FX-ed" 2. Peter noticed that something was wrong with Olivia too. 3. I LOVED the discussion between Alistair and Walter. And Alistair's choice to go back to May 18 anyway, and not to save her. He knew Walter as right. I didn't see the car coming, though. But Alistair seemed like a good guy. Now I wonder what his death has changed ? The tulip was so nice. 4. Walter burning the letter...... Urgh, tell him or don't, but this back and forth is starting to be annoying. 5. At first, I thought it would go a bit faster. The rythm was kind of slow..... But with the three acts, it reminded me of the "Go" movie, except it's not exactly three different points of view. I appreciated they didn't show us the same scenes with the same point of views. Still, a little too slow for my taste. 6. "All kind of love" Alistair/Arlette (seriously ?! I've heard this name too many times during the elections.... ), father/son, ..... and *AHEM* P/O ? I had imagined that Peter would be the one coming with white tulips, and Walter all "What flowers did you bu..... Oh." I like their ending better. 7. I love Olivia and the toothbrushes IT IS YOUR DESTINY OLIVIA 8. All the "god" / "religion" things... well, it was fine. 9. The talk between Walter and Olivia was nice, too. Him telling her about how he imagines the way Peter will react, Olivia seems to be thinking the exact same thing. 10. A fine episode, with a lot of clues and eastereggs. I'll give it an 8, it was nice, but too slow. | |

| *Turns and looks directly at Pinkner and Wyman* How about a clue to who that guy is? You know we've been puzzling over who he is and why he is special, and what they all mean in context. Give us something more to work with! | |

| Are you talking about the photograph in the last picture ? Because we can see it twice, the second time very quiclkly when the FBI arrives to capture Peck in his lab, with Walter. | |

| Do you have a pic of the device on Bell's wrist when he is working on Walter's brain at St. Clares? I've been tracing down meanings of symbols (like the ones in the test box) and I think I have found one for that, if I am remembering correctly.) | |
