There are no spoilers, but in the Bolivia one..... Anna says something.... if I had a gun, I'd shoot her. She called what the writers were doing (Peter and Theirlivia's romance) "genius".

I wonder if she laughs because she's embarrassed or because she really thinks it's funny... what do you think Lez ?

Yeah, I read that. She buys the notion that keeping lovers apart is genius.
If I were to be snotty, I would point out that
Spoiler:
she can't seem to stay married.
But I don't want to be snotty, so I won't. Bad Robot are paying her salary, giving her the homewrecker role as well as the betrayed woman, so of course she is going to side with them.

Embarrassed. At first when I listened to it without watchin, it felt like she was crying. But I think she's embarassed. She was the one saying that Peter and Olivia had "professed their love" in the Season Finale.

I don't know if it's "genius" but it's their business to keep frustrations going.

Embarrassed, could be. I think she might have been as surprised as us to see where that storyline went.
See, that's my point; it isn't true that you must have frustration. It's lazy writing.
I do wonder about married men who think married life, or paired life, is boring.
Let's get Wyman's wife on the phone, and Pinkner's, if he is married, and ask them.

I agree, it's lazy writing, but unfortunately easy to sell.

And, worse, the two programs I thought might be gutsy enough to flout that both were too fearful to do so: Fringe and Castle. The latter even said up front the two would fall for each other, and become a couple, but they have undone all the progress they made, falling back on teenage angst.
I gave up on it last year, and hoped that Fringe would trust its audience... but what they have done is trust its audience to not leave them while they court another audience.
What amazes me is that the people I know who really go for the angsty frustration stuff, the hideous romance novels and cheezy movies, are the ones who love the idea of being married more than being married, at least from the way they break their vows and cheat on their partners.
...On second thought, I guess that doesn't amaze me at all.
But it makes me sad that popular fiction for 'the all of us' has to cater to the lowest common denominator. Because, while I'm not married, I have many friends who have been for years and years, and are great, fun people to be with, and my parents were a couple of geese, utterly devoted to each other---and there wasn't a boring minute in their lives.

Here we go.
+2 Astrid/Walter scenes +2 Cop Shapeshifter and his "family", very nice.
+8 For all Newton's scenes. Including Newton's death which has great cropping, lighting, acting, rythm. -3 For killing Newton off. Which might turn into a -10 if they don't bring him back.
-5 Peter and Altlivia end scene. It would have been a -10 if we had actually seen them afterwards. It may not be too late to stop them.
+2 The senator's first scene with the lemonade girls, and his wife.
-2 Peter comparing the couple to him and Theirlivia.
+4 For all the stuff we learn about shapeshifters.
So it will an 8.
edit : As for the Stegosaurus' second brain in its ass, it has not been proven yet. I personnally think that this second "brain" is more a glycogen body like birds have.

gave it an 8 .
Nice to see the shapeshifters able of feelings. Really impatient to learn more about them being here for long ago . Wahou for Newton death ... sad not to see him again, I like him as the vilain.
It was weird to see Peter notice how different Bolivia is and even so, going ahead like nothing else . And it is also awkward to see the thoughtlessness of their relation, totally at the opposite of the 2 first seasons , when all seems so heavy to wear for Olivia and all seems to be very serious
oh and I also miss the old lab ... MD is nice but much too white and luminous for me, I think the heavy case of fringe division need the old, dark and quite mysterious Harvard Lab. Walter seems not to be at his real place in the so brand new technology lab ... I miss the way of making the impossible with improbable things . Here in MD all seems to be possible, it's less fun for me.

I am too excited to read all of your posts but WHAT THE HELL?!?!? THIS ENDING?! i mean the episode was quite okay but then DDDD= and I mean, okay the new lab is okay, but I can only I agree that I miss the old one, but I hope they'll still work there sometimes. I miss Olivia in our universe =( I mean how can Peter do that he knows that something is wrong and I guess that there'll be no phones ringing this time.
and I am also not sure if Newton is really really or if it's just another trick? I mean he did a lot of bad things but I liked him, and I was wondering he's a shapeshifter as well but I guess I'm the only one who didn't get it until this point. oh well, this episode was very strange...

i gave it an 4 (and it's generous...)
- the plot was miserable. - i'm already tired of Bolivia, i find her vulgar and aggressive. -i regret Newton's death, like Jones he was a sordid great vilain. -Peter's character is tenuous like a mirage. -the end...
but there were things i liked : Walter of course, Walter and Astrid, the senator and the girls, and what we learned about the shapeshifters.

Love your assessment, Lez. And you're right, the phone might still ring, while Peter's working on his zipper.

There is a reason why i'll never have respect for Bolivia's character : at the end when Newton provoked her, she choose to despise her conscience in favour of her mission (Walternate's mission actually). Our Olivia would never do that, quite the contrary she's almost "persecuted" (not the good word...) by her own conscience. That's why i appreciate her, maybe she's less "fun", darker, but far more deep and interesting, IMO of course.

Can you imagine, if the universes were about to collide, Peter would sacrify himself, in order to save the world... and Olivia. That could make up for what he's ABOUT to do. (But they haven't done it yet)

He's already done that once; in The Man From The Other Side, he waves everybody off the bridge, especially Walter and Olivia, while he closed the wormhole, to protect the universes. He didn't quite close it fast enough, but he did save the universes.
And I don't want to see one having to really sacrifice a life for the other, I'm no fan of angsty tearful epic-ness.
But if he had the impulse to save her, that would be good.

........... one more question about this episode: just how many product placements were there? I heard the amex card one, saw the taurus one, but there were probably more.

BTS Report from HITFIX : Thoughts on being a 'Fringe' extra
Quote :
If you watched Thursday (Oct. 14) night's "Fringe," you may have noticed a cameo by a certain bearded, well-dressed HitFix editor/blogger. It's also completely possible that you may not have noticed me. The following conditions would have explained my failure to come to your addition.
1) You don't know who I am or what I look like.
2) You know who I am, but you watched on a small TV or on Hulu and you don't recognize me well enough to identify the back of my head on a tiny screen.
3) You were watching John Noble, who happened to be giving an excellent performance, bouncing monologue bombshells off of my receptive presence as if he were Steven McQueen, his words were a baseball and I were the concrete wall in a German POW camp.
4) You're a friend or relative to guest star Sebastian Roche (creepy baddy Thomas Jerome Newton), whose name came on screen at precisely the perfect moment to upstage the closest thing I got to a close-up.
5) You sneezed.
More at the link.

Don't forget twizzlers! Mr. Cathy used to eat them, it's nothing but sugar in gelatin!
I'm worried about Olivia. Is there an agreement that they're changing her personality? I agree with Elliot, Olivia is a better person, kinder, more compassionate, moral *waves at Elliot*.
I want to hug all the Shippers who are having seizures over Peter and Bolivia? AltLiv? It's weird that she does appear more confident in this persona. Olivia is more serious. It would be nice if Peter would finally start doubting just exactly who she is. If they only give us four more episodes before a Christmas break I'll start sputtering on the boards, too!
