| Yeah, they only have the two left to finish, so this is 'over there', I expect, what with both of them. | |

- Olivia knows about Peter! Is she gonna tell him the truth?! -Meg
Olivia knows that Peter is from the alternate universe, but she isn't quite sure what to do with that information. Can you blame her? It is kind of a lot to process. But, before she makes any decisions, Walter takes it upon himself to try and explain what happened all those years ago.
"Fringe"... Anything. This hiatus is killing me. Don't let me explode like something on the show. -Dee Most of the April 1 episode is a flashback, and many of the big questions you've had about Peter will be answered. We're also getting answers re: Nina's arm, William Bell and, of course, a whole crop of new queries will be raised. Oh, and if John Noble (Walter) doesn't get Emmy recognition this year, we may have to boycott.
Peter and Olivia are going on a date!! Will we see them actually finish that kiss they started? -Kate Sorry, but when the show comes back, we won't know whether they actually went on that date. Even worse? Joshua Jackson is MIA the entire first hour back. Yeah, it hurt us too... From Zap 2 it

| More about the musical episode, airing April 29th. Episode 2x19. - Quote :
- Just when you thought FRINGE couldn’t get any stranger, a funny thing happened in a little underground Harvard Lab.
On our recent visit to the set of FRINGE, the cast — looking for something, heck, anything to share that didn’t involve spilling the beans on the super-secret two-part second season finale that is currently filming as we speak — let it slip that as part of Fox’s May Sweeps programming, which will have many of your favorite Fox shows tapping into their inner Gleek, the Fringe Division will be breaking out into song!
“This is a Sci-fi show and I kind of figured the roles would be set and that would be what you do,” teased Jasika Nicole (Astrid) who will perform a song from A Chorus Line as part of a story-line that involves Walter telling a bedtime story to Olivia’s niece. “But to be in period makeup and get to sing, I’ve ended up doing way more that I ever imagined I would.” Added actor Lance Reddick who seemed to relish the opportunity to let his guard down and put his musical background to good use. “We all sing and I play the piano,” revealed Reddick. “I can play the piano, but I’m not a pianist. They sent me the recording and I pretty much had to learn it by rope.”

| By rote, Lance, by rote.
No word yet on what Josh does---hope that is a spoiler they are saving, and not just that they haven't given him a fun part, esp. since he isn't in the first ep back.

| From sci-fi wire: - Quote :
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer set the bar for musical episodes, but they didn't own it, and Fox's Fringe will soon be jumping on the bandwagon, so to speak, with a musical episode of its own, called "Overture."
The episode, set to air during a Glee-themed week of musical programming in May, will have the regular cast—including, no doubt, Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson—breaking into song and dance.
No, it's not some Broadway-themed virus or a Sondheim-style alternate universe storyline: The musical numbers, which cover popular songs, represent a hallucination by the show's resident mad scientist, Walter Bishop (John Noble).
"None of us ever thought that it was really going to happen," said musically trained co-star Jasika Nicole, who plays loyal FBI agent Astrid Farnsworth, in an interview on the show's set in Vancouver, Canada, last week. "It was just a joke. We were like, 'Oh, yeah, Fringe should be a musical.' Dancing and singing and goofing off and stuff. And then John says, 'So. you know, there's going to be a musical episode,' and I was like, 'Ha, ha, John,' and he was like, 'No, really, have you read the script?'"
Nicole adds: "When I first read that, I thought, 'How are they going to pull this off? This is really weird.' And it makes complete sense within the story. It's essentially Walter kind of manifesting his idea. He's trying to get his mind off of, you know, what's going on because he's just waiting to see what's going to go on with Peter. And essentially he's kind of created this little world in his head. And so everything is super-symbolic so all the characters embody the qualities that he notices about them the most, which is really neat. And it happens in the 1940s. Everybody's in 1940s dress, but they still have cell phones and stuff. So it's just his brain, because he's telling a story to someone. Sort of like a bedtime story to help ease his anxiety. So we get to sing in it."
Fortunately, many in the cast have musical backgrounds, including Blair Brown, above, who plays Massive Dynamic's nefarious executive, Nina Sharp, and Lance Reddick, below with Torv, who plays the imperious FBI supervisor Broyles.
"I have a musical theater background, so I've been waiting for some moment in some realm of where I am in TV and film for this to happen and, you know, of course, when Glee came on the air I was like, 'Great, that was my chance,'" Nicole says. "And I'm in this show, which I love this show, but I'm never going to sing and dance in this show. And I did! It's so awesome!"
Producers asked Brown if she could sing. "And I go, 'I do,' she said. "Next thing I knew, I had a song. It was very curious."
Adds Reddick: "I was a musician originally. I went to music school, college. ... I came to acting very late. ... I think Walter and Astrid more have numbers. I just, like, have a few lines that I sing."
Despite everyone's musical background, "everyone was kind of freaked out about the singing," Reddick says, adding: "For me, it was like having to play the piano at the same time, that freaked me out a little bit. But, yeah, it was fun. For me, what was more fun was actually being able to play completely to the character."
If it seems odd that Fringe would do a musical episode, well, yeah. "But random and odd is what this show is, so it's cool," Reddick said.
Fringe returns with new episodes on April 1; it airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

| The same as it does in Italian: a beginning. It's the music at the beginning of an opera, which sets the theme for the whole thing and includes bits and hints of all to come. It's also a first gesture: one makes overtures to another person as a way to start something. I'll give you a virtual nickel if you can tell me, without googling for it, what opera also has an underture. | |

| Yes, I was wondering if this was a mispelling of "ouverture" of if that was actually a real english word. | |

| It's a word we 'borrowed' from Italian with no intent to give back... The opera with an underture is 'Tommy' which is ghastly but does have some good music. I think functionally it is a kind of reprise, but about halfway through, rather than at the end. ---say, the board clock re-sets itself--we switched to daylight savings time ('summer time') last week, I set it to auto-correct, and it set it ahead---was fine for a week, but it has set it back an hour now. But if I untick the auto correct box, won't it then set it back yet another hour? Right now it thinks everyone is posting an hour ago, including me. | |
