Any guesses on how Peter's mother did die, as it seems it wasn't a car crash? I remember reading somewhere early this season that "the breaking of that relationship (with his mother) was what broke him [Peter]".

And he did seem quite broken in the pilot--angry and skeeved of Walter, and also sad & dark. He's gotten progressively sunnier since then, but I don't think much has been addressed for him, other than warming to Walter and Olivia. It would be a bit much to have that earlier stuff just all go away, so I am assuming they will begin to address it.

Did you see, Josh isn't singing next week? He decided not to, and they let him do as he wants.

You can't force someone to do something. If he had been forced, he would have looked crisped the whole episode, and it would have been bad.

If I were him, i would have chosen not too, as singing isn't one of my talents.

I agree ! after all being an actor doesn't mean to be able to sing and I think it's better if he plays without pressure... it's my opinion...

It looks like we will have a great episode, even without him singing. As he will be dancing.. and not alone!

Sure. Of course. I didn't mean that he would have been forced. It would be just funny to see him singing if he had wanted

So...any other 1940's detective story fans here? That wheelchair reminds me of General Sternwood's. Props to BR for going with the best for atmosphere (Raymond Chandler).

I'm glad Josh isn't singing actually. He's not a good singer, and when you have other people in the episode that are professional singers doing there thing, he would look awful.

Jasika has broadway experience and so does the actress who plays Nina. John Noble has done singing in plays and Lance has a great voice apparently. If the actor who plays the Observer also sings in this, well there is another broadway star. So, I don't blame Josh at all for not wanting to sing when you are up against that.

I think doing what he will be doing is so much better for him. He looks great in the clothes and I just love the line to Olivia about being a good dancer. He does that sort of stuff really well.

Still not sure about this episode, but the more I see I think it is going to be alot better than what I originally thought. It might surprise alot of people actually.

I felt the same. At first I was skeptic, but now....
Besides, it's not the only show doing a musical episode during this "glee-week"...

Michael Cerveris is an actor/musician, I don't if he sings too... bu I guess he can. That would be so nice to hear him.

By the looks of the promos, I think it will be wonderful. I love film noir, detective novels, old movies... and seeing a show see itself through another perspective is usually really fun. Plus, except for little bits along the way, BR have not done stupid things with Fringe at all, and I am sure this will be great. And since they never make standalones, really, but what they call 'mythalones', where the story is advanced even if it isn't immediately obvious, I am all the more excited.

Whether or not Josh has a great trained singing voice is irrelevant, I think; this isn't really an episode of music intended to be released as a cast album, I don't believe. And until I hear the rest of them sing, I'm going to reserve judgment on them as well. (Heck, Michelle Trachtenberg sang in 'Once More With Feeling' and she really has a terrible voice, but it was fine in the episode.)

I think maybe that is an old fashioned speedboat Peter rescues Olivia out of? Would fit with the time period--bootleggers or smugglers, would fit with the Peter bad company back story too.
