Yeah, I know why they change the names, I was just remembering the tempest in the teapot those two sets of speculations made, and the sometimes heated discussions... which by the time the episodes aired, were mostly forgotten. Part way through both I thought, oh, right, this was that spoilery stuff...and thinking that BR might well be using the same coy "alter" stuff for misdirection purposes. Or changing things about as they did with the Iraq scene, or the scene where Olivia shoots not-Charlie and Peter is mysteriously elided from it.

FYI - 2x12 is also known as 2x11 Edina City Limits airdate 1/14. The FoxFlash site lists it as both. 2x11 Unearthed is also known as 1x21 Unearthed airdate 1/11.
Yeah, I know. Not a *bit* confusing, eh?

They are as confused as we are, aren't they? I can envision the lot of them running around with pots of coffee trying to figure out what goes when and what to call it. Being "too clever" has its cost sometimes.

Right now, I'll stick with the press releases titles.
They're getting so confusing, spoiler hunting starts to be less entertaining.

Okay, for some reason these won't load for me, so I have no idea what's on them, or if they've already been put up (non-subtitled):

From Spain, one would think...
Did you see them talking about setting an end date for Fringe? I read this elsewhere last week, but spaced posting it.... here it is from TV Overmind:

actually Abrams said it's be nice to set an end date like they did with LOST he added that they know where there's going with FRINGE, so it would be entirely possible.
that was during the TCA winter press tour last week or so...

From EW :
Quote :
It’s the showdown we’ve been waiting for.
Fringe’s second-season finale this spring will feature a long-awaited confrontation between weird science partners-turned-frenemies William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) and Walter Bishop (John Noble).
“William and Walter will finally face off in the finale,” confirms consulting producer Akiva Goldsman, who is directing the two-part episode (written by exec producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman). “These [characters] have so much that they’re bringing to bear. And Leonard and John are two fantastic actors.”
The William/Walter reunion is just one of several mythology-related payoffs Fringe has in store in this season’s final episodes. “We’re going to be looking very closely into Peter’s [Joshua Jackson] identity, Walter’s choices in the past, and Walter’s choices in the future,” reveals Goldsman. “And by the end of the season, we’re all going over to the other side.
“We’re trying to do the last two episodes as a singular event, a little bit more movie-like,” elaborates the acclaimed auteur, who won an Oscar for his adaptation of A Beautiful Mind. “It’s really one big story. We’re approaching it like a mini-feature. It’ll have a singular narrative drive.”
But will it have any closure should, heaven forbid, the episode turn out to be a series finale? “Good stories typically have sufficient closure, but also have the promise of continuing — even if you’re not watching them continue,” he says. “So, short of killing somebody — which we’re not doing — we’re just treating it like the end of a movement, not the end of a symphony.”

I doubt that, and I kinda hope not. For one, I'd like to see AlterOlivia (maybe she's married to John), but more importantly, I'd like to see Peter's reaction/adjustment to an entirely new world.
I think it's more likely Peter will be going over to "plug the hole" (ie fix the damage Walter caused by removing him) so Olivia going after him doesn't help that. I'm guessing it will be more of a self-sacrifice on Peter's part rather than another kidnapping by AlterWalter.

You know, I think you are right on the self sacrifice, for two reasons. One is the quasi-religious stuff sprinkled throughout, and the latest shot of him all in red lighting with the image of a cross on his face from a shadow (in Johari Window)... very sacrificial lamb. And the other is the Lab Notes, where Walter says he is the key, and also that he'll be OK as long as they stay here. So.... not OK if they go back.
I think the Observers muffed it, were supposed to let the Peter in this world live and not the one in that world, and Walter made them an offer to keep the one supposed to die as they'd screwed up and killed his. And that Peter will die if he goes back (die if he stays long enough to be caught).

From SciFiWire:
Quote :
And in our own exclusive interview with Pinkner about how the season will progress, he told us, "Olivia we'll find this season that in order to identify and defeat the bad guy she's going to have to ... allow herself to be open to what Walter and William Bell did to her as a kid. She's going to have to allow these inherent abilities of hers to come to the surface so that she can identify and then stop the people who are trying to open up the corridor to the other side. And she may fail."
