*Looking around* I don't want to read the spoilers, but I wanted to feel out how folks are dealing with the explosive ending to the last episode.
Rumor has it that Peter and Bolivia have more than just sex, they start a real relationship. Now that's just a rumor, not a spoiler, so it could be completely untrue.
My question is, would it kill the show for you? As someone who was into the Benchwarmers from the very beginning, it's not the only reason I'm into the show, I'd like to see a tremendous Science Fiction Story.
Of course this will probably kill any chance of Peter and Olivia getting together. "But I thought it was YOU!" keeps going off in my head.
"Amber 31422" sounds like what the other side does to prevent a breakthrough from our universe and it's a particular occurance.
With the dearth of heroes I can be excited about right now, I'm actually looking forward to Lincoln Lee and Frank, if the show's going to be the other side, but shows originating on the other side doesn't seem to be popular. If it's us, c'mon, please, somebody start suspecting Smooth-acting Bolivia! *crosses fingers, looks skyward*
Happy Show Day!
A couple of weeks is forever when they left it on a note like that. Olivia's completely losing herself in the other Universe (except for that awesome hallucination from Peter). I prefer my Heroine flawed, but I have to admit Olivia probably likes being less stressed? She has a mom, she has a cool boyfriend, and she gets to look at dirigibles. No, of course I want her back! Just a thought.....
Otherwise all I have to look forward to is Brandon!
How could IMDB give this show 8.8 out of 10 and we had such dismal ratings? grrrrrr. Anyway, the new show synopsis is up
Spoiler:
It's an AltUniverse show! Maybe there will be more hallucinations for the Benchies! At any rate, I think they're going to continue to explore the idea that there are Good people in the AltUniverse, too.

Say what you want about the Alt-Universe, Their Tank is certainly better. And I like the Aquarium-look to it.
8:31pm and we have Contact! Lots to talk about, and I think everyone will have positive things. But there's still 30 minutes, no, scratch that, 28 minutes left to go!

As I said in the spoiler section, I think it's the actors job to sell their story. That's what Josh has been trying to do, I think. We have no idea what he actually thinks about Peter and altOlivia. However, he knew that's what was going to happen and he has to sell it. He can't say in interviews, "This whole relationship thing will be horrible, so don't watch". He's an actor on the show and whether he likes the way they are going with his character or not, he's still got to try to convince people to watch.
I actually think it is a hard sell, because altOlivia isn't exactly likeable and they've changed Peter to accommodate the story they want to tell. So, I think he has had a hard job and unfortunately I don't think Josh has been convincing. He's tried hard though. So, it was good to see the producers answer some of the Peter/Bolivia questions that were posed to them. I would concentrate on their answers because obviously what they say is how it has been written.
I loved what Josh said about Peter and Olivia and the bond they have, also. I cannot see them ruining that completely, since it took them two seasons to build it up to where it was at the end of season 2. They have a strong bond and ultimately I see it getting stronger, because of what they will have to endure both separately and together this season.
While the writers seem to be hitting Olivia again and again, the writers also said that Peter keeps on getting hit in the face as well. So, both characters are firmly in the sights of the writers this season.

That makes me feel a little better about Josh.
As for tonight's episode, I loved
Spoiler:
the tank. Cathy, you are correct in saying that the AltUniverse's tank is better than ours. It definitely looks a lot more comfortable to be in. I loved Olivia hallucinating Peter. Her reactions were getting so amusing by the end. There were some great parallels with the twins and the Olivia/AltLiv situation, and I loved the parallels of Olivia looking out at the World Trade Center at the end of season 1, and her looking out the window in this episode. Finally, it was heartbreaking when she called Ella.

This was a lot more like it!! Actual plot and none of it involving gratuitous sex. The way the tourist shop wiggled and shimmered as she lost her grip was very nice. I'm glad they are allowing her to save herself, that is what Olivia would do.
You like this tank better? I don't; it seemed sterile somehow, less comfortable. And she looked so much lika a Lucia Bride in that white dress and wreath, that was very odd. If there's some easter egg there I haven't a clue. The shots of her writing in the tank are upsetting, that part is well done, though of course it would be better if when she came out Peter could hold her and dry her off.
Alt-Charlie might not have the degrees Lincoln has, but he has smarts and quick thinking... and he is I think more devoted to whicheverLivia. Can we have him immigrate to our side please? And was that superhearingOlivia operating in that room with the bomb? I'm liking that non-Broyles is not certain he goes for what Walternot is doing, too.
Interesting that they use the teleporter ring to hold the bank wall open, instead of geotextile, as they do on this side. Was DRJ hauling this tech there, or vice-versa?
And holy mackerel, I hate Walternate way more than I did this morning. Noble is uber-creepy as him, he could do horror movies. Brr. Someone will have screen caps of the newspaper articles of Peter's disappearance by tomorrow, I assume.
Didn't spot the Observer, I never look anymore, nor even for blue flashes. I noticed the blue pills she didn't take, and wonder why prescriptions of psychoactive drugs would be neatly lined up in a case in an er for easy access. ..... so cortexiphan is yellow in pill form, for going, red for not knowing, and blue for knowing? Red for lying, blue for truth? I also forgot to look for that pair of paintings that has been showing up in her (and other folks') apartments, the one with the cypress trees.
I'm hoping that Fakelivia's mum doesn't do the "haul her off to the looney bin" thing that happened to Buffy where she was experiencing her alt-nonSlayer-self, BTDT.
Cool that Peter gets her to call Ella! And so, so very Olivia to not tell them she'd crossed!! I want Ella to be the one who twigs, if Peter is going to continue to be the idiot.
(And justkickit, I agree that Josh has a hard role here, trying to sell the infatuation with RaccoonEyedOlivia, both for him suddenly being stupid and because she is just not likeable....... he (Josh) must shake his head and think, OK, they are paying me to stay home every other week, so............)
It was telegraphed that the bad twin would turn good to save his brother, stop stealing his life, so I predict an echo further down the road... but that's ok, even if it will be lame, in order to have balance restored--which in my mind is Ourlivia here, and Peter, and fakelivia never here again. When he said to her we are nothing alike (or whatever quote exactly), I cheered--nice echo.
One other little demerit: if guys with saws can open the amber and get people out, and they have been alive in there all this time, obv. the wormholes are limp imitations of real wormholes..... some cannisters of a gas that makes a plastic which is breathable can glue shut the universe? Though they are doing their best with an anti-science corner they've stuck themselves in.
All in all, a very sad, yet very good episode. I'll have to think about voting overnight. And get a bottle of scotch to drink at the beginning of the next one...for Olivia's sake and mine.

The whole episode, starting with Peter in the peacoat I like so much, "Remember Who You Are." *fist pump* Yeah!! I'm getting a kick out Peter startling her, she's going to start turning corners, and Bam! there he is!
Anna Torv also cracks me up. I think she's starting to impersonate Bolivia, like the way she assured the twin the case would be closed, but I definitely see Olivia shine through some moments.
Lincoln Lee's brainy as well as noble. I think they keep messing his face up so I won't want to replace Peter with him! *ducks* I hope he has a similarly noble Alt over here, I like him very much.
Olivia: "Your mother didn't used to make popcicles for you?" Charlie: "My mother used to make me buy cigarettes." Lincoln & Olivia: "Awwwwww."
I wanted to blog last night, I was just so tired. I may be influenced by Elliot's excellent review BW's and others' fine comments, that's the downside of delay.
I definitely felt like, although there's still the hornet's nest waiting over in our universe, there has to be some happier reactions to last night's show than "Electric Sheep".
Secretary Bishop:"There's no such thing as good or evil, Philip, only Balance and Imbalance." Deja Vu!
The production values are the highest for any show on television, it's gorgeous in High Def.
Gotta go back to work. Thank goodness it's Friday, and I'll have the weekend to try to put more thoughts into words.
You're right, Elliot, I can't give them all 10's, but I really liked it.

And here I keep thinking they keep Seth Gabel in makeup because his head & ears are such a funny shape. And the man has no lips! -----And while Kirk Acevedo is less obviously handsome than Seth Gabel, I find him more attractive. Maybe because his character is less assuming? More my type of human, I guess.
The show was really affecting; I had massive dreams about being waylaid and trying to get home, having my car key crack and bend so it would be hard to use...... but it was also one of those cool dreams where I realized I was dreaming and went back and changed one of the obstacles, Peter and Olivia are helping me with my nightmares!

Listen to you! And I thought it was what's inside that counted! The man's named Lincoln Lee, presumably after Abraham Lincoln. He's funny, he's smart, and he's taken the high road in every situation. He ran into the tunnel with 3 minutes to go before everybody was going to get ambered. Oh, and somebody thinks he's cute, he's married to Dallas Bryce Howard.
Nobody's taking Josh's job, that's for sure.
Charlie's sweet, if a little melancholy, but aren't all those abdominal worms going to ick you out when you hug him?
Oh dear, this is where I'm going to get into trouble. Josh sometimes has this eye that goes off in a slightly different direction than his other one, maybe his right eye? Like he's thinking of something else while he's talking. He's getting better! But I've always had just a little problem believing that he loves Olivia. And his 1st year quips about not wanting a romance didn't help.
But he seems to be coming around! I want that remembered before I call down the wrath of the Benchies, fellow Benchies, on my head!
(all nonBenchie folk, please disregard this discussion, and particularly towards the fan who doesn't want to be burned in effigy....)

Lincoln Lee, I just remember him from the first shots we saw of him, and he reminds me of Charlie Brown's big round head, can't shake that image. And Kirk, like I said, not so predictably handsome-----him I find warmer, more convincing as a caring person. There's a flippancy, a brittleness, about Seth Gable that leaves me cold.
Yeah, I've noticed the slight wall eye on Josh, and the fact that he's losing his hair--and has packed on some pounds since the pilot. But when he cranks out the wattage his smile can have, or croons in Olivia's ear....... mmmmfph.
I wonder about the convincingness, and lack of it too; I think perhaps BR have planned out a very long game on this, wanted it to build slowly, then saw the ratings tank last year and sped up the romance without prepping us for it---------and the new writers this year, may they rot in hell, decided to screw around with the romance and give us porn instead (it is November and next week is likely to be gratuitous sex again)--------and while probably they will have her forgive him and things get back to semi normal, it feels to me like they had a --7 year, maybe, plan, and now are trying to fit it into a 4-5 if they are lucky schedule, but instead of shrinking it equally, are jamming bits of it here and there inequally. Long story shorter: they didn't prep us for this as well as they might have, because the alt-u wasn't supposed to be revealed until season 4, yet here we are.
Since the writing team that took over last year forgets which episode they are working on, this should not be surprising.
Other weirdnesses that don't fit, that I thnk are being done to make the alt-u look better, include the increasing daftness, imbecility, of Walter, to make Walternot look more serious and believable by contrast.
I think it would have been more chilling to have him have to compete harder against the Walter whose mind and soul are indeed better than they were, whose kindness and moral courage now inform who he is, rather than pasting on regret that is totally unconvincing by having Walternot fondle old newspaper clippings while saying there is not right or wrong, and poor Walter is dropping his pants and farting.
This doesn't make me feel better towards Walternot, it makes me hate the writers. Well, despise them. That is not up to Fringe standards.

Up to Fringe standards. I do have very high expectations of them.
I'm just not sure what the circumstances are going to be that will let me say, "Eureka! They did it! They pulled it out of him!" But I believe it's there. My eyes aren't symmetrical, I don't think most people's are. Michael J Fox was famous for not looking someone in the eyes when he talked to him, and he garnered all kinds of acting awards.
Oh, Walter! He's so somber, but at least he's all there. The problem is, how's she going to get away from them? Her body's still there in the tank, but it moves physically across the threshold?
It's nice to see Brandon, but I prefer the goofier version in our universe. They could potentially have some terrific scenes getting Walter off the 6 year old jokes and used to the Massive Dynamic lab, with Astrid's support.

That would be so cool to see, Brandon helping Astrid in the lab!!
I was thinking this morning that one reason lots of us are hating the alt-u now is that there are just too many characters to keep track of, and since we've "bonded" with our Three, and Astrid, Nina, Broyles and Brandon, we don't need or want another set to supposedly care about as much. It's like a funhouse mirror now, where the originals get short shrift and all we see is worse and worse copies.
I just don't care about the alts as a whole. Yes the twins last night were nice and all, but only as they related to Olivia and her getting home. It's an alt-u, fine, bored now. I mean, if it was all observers every week, we'd be bored of them, right? Or all shape shifters every week (every other week)....... I just am not interested. I go do laundry.
And Pinkman whining about making us like them? You know what they say: big hubcaps, little feet.

How many episodes are they ahead now? "Blast" ratings came up, well, it's up to 5 million (frikkin Grey's Anatomy, 11 million, there's a reason to doubt a higher power.....).
If the show can narrow it's beam of concentration, perhaps we can still wrangle in viewers who have strayed. This whole Bolivia thing has really gotten out of hand with the viewers' dislike......

We've only seen 5 episodes?? Wow, Bolivia has had such an effect, it feels like it's been going on a lot longer.
I forgot the DVR ratings, too.
Spoiler:
And if Bolivia is rooted out by Thanksgiving, as the rumor is, and the P/O fans get their original pair back.
That could conceivably pull off the closest ratings dive since, since, heck, I don't know when.
It can't happen soon enough for me. She makes the fanbase So Angry! It surprises me, I'd be willing to bet it surprised the producers, too.
Spoiler:
Ooo, we're back here for next week. Gosh I hope Peter starts suspecting something next week, like maybe Ella will tip him off if he sees them together. And if he doesn't chalk it up to the trauma of wormhole travel.......

Don't hold your breath Cathy, they say they will show them together at the beginning of the next episode and "define where their relationship is now".
Since November is sweeps month, I'm betting--and I will spoiler block this because it nauseates me--
Spoiler:
that he moves in with her or tells her he loves her, something like that. Plus more sex scenes. Morning after junk.
I want to be wrong.
Pinkman have been adamant about getting us to like her, they have, what, 5 more episodes in the can now,(two here, three there?) they would have to go back and re-shoot to clean it up and money is not so easy to get when your ratings are down, so...... this may be a case of grit our teeth and hope Pinkner's ...fever.. passes.
I have people ranting in my ask box over on tumblr because they hate the storyline, hate what is being done to Olivia, hate fakelivia, want it over with. And that's a fanatical fanbase, as you know Cathy from me quoting them to you.
But if they give us more episodes like last night, focused on things happening, and then get our girl back with Peter by TG..... I would think the ratings will improve.
